Guild and Livery 101: A Beginners Guide to the Guild of Investment Managers and Livery World
Booking opens soon for “Guild and Livery 101: A Beginner’s Guide to the Guild of Investment Managers and the Livery World,”. This online event is designed to introduce you to the Guild and the fascinating world of Livery Companies.
This session is perfect for absolute beginners, so don’t worry if you have no prior knowledge of the Guild or the Livery system, we will cover all the basics!
We’re delighted to welcome Livery Historian Paul Jagger, who will provide a concise and engaging overview of the rich history and relevance of Livery Companies.
Speakers for the event will be:
-
The Master Fyona Knight: Who will welcome attendees and provide a high-level introduction to the Guild of Investment Managers and its leadership (the Court).
-
Livery Historian Paul Jagger: Who will provide a compelling look into the origins of Livery Companies and illustrate how contemporary Guilds, like ours, uphold their historical traditions.
-
Junior Warden James de Sausmarez: Who will articulate the Guild’s mission, strategic goals, and vision for the future of the investment management profession.
-
Membership Committee Representative: Who will highlight the tangible benefits of Guild membership, including professional development, networking, and unique dining experiences.
-
Past Master and Chief Commoner Henry Pollard: Who will explain the unique significance of the Freedom of the City of London and how to apply for it, and its connection to Livery Companies and the broader civic life of the City.
- There will be Q&A session at the end for event attendees to ask the panel anything. You can submit your questions beforehand, and will be invited to do so when you register, or by emailing the Clerk.
While we’ll be focusing on the Guild of Investment Managers, the content will be highly applicable to most other Livery Companies, making it valuable for anyone interested in this unique aspect of City life. We also encourage our existing members to register and join, as it’s a great opportunity for a refresher on the many benefits and opportunities the Guild provides.
This event is FREE TO ATTEND, but should you wish to support our philanthropic efforts, you are very welcome to make a donation to our charity, the Investment Managers Charitable Trust. (Find out more about our charitable work).
