A very bright individual

Shuyej is a very bright individual with an MSc degree in Statistics and Computational Finance from the University of York, with impressive quantitative skills.

From early days in his student career, he has been involved with all aspects of economics, either as a student, an intern, or a mentee. He sees fund management as the discipline which brings together financial markets and economics, and he is fascinated by its complexity and scope.

He sees the IMC qualification as the first step to broaden his knowledge of finance and follow his dream.

On receiving the IMCT bursary, Shuyej writes:

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to thank you and share some insight as to why this bursary award is very important to me.

My name is Shuyej, and I am of Bangladeshi heritage. I have attended the University of Bristol studying for a BSc degree in Economics, achieving a 2.1 (58%), and I have attended the University of York studying for a MSc degree in Statistics and Computational Finance, achieving a merit (65%).

Continuing, I have grown up in Tower Hamlets, which was and still is predominately of Bangladeshi residents. However, many teenagers and young adults specifically of Bangladeshi heritage from Tower Hamlets, often at times, resort to anti-social activities, due to limited opportunities. I always knew I wanted to excel in a career in Financial Services, and after an internship at Advent Investment, I knew working in the buy side would be ideal. Therefore, receiving this award not only will allow me to focus on my goals through education which I really enjoy, but also provide me a means to excel in my career by attaining relevant qualifications. Thank you for making the process of attaining the IMC qualification easier, by allowing me to afford to pay for the cost of these exams. Like myself, and other Bangladeshi people from Tower Hamlets, opportunities are limited, and I am very grateful for receiving this bursary award.
