Investment Managers' Charitable Trust

An historian to asset management

Gavin is a third year History student at the University of Southampton with a graduation dissertation on The Rise of Populism after the 2008 Economic Crisis. He is keen to expand his analytical skills as an historian to asset management.

On receiving the IMCT bursary, Gavin wrote:

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for awarding me the Investment Managers’ Charitable Trust Bursary to undertake the Level 4 IMC (Investment Management Certificate) offered by the CFA Institute. This is truly an extraordinary opportunity that will help me develop both career-wise and personally.

I would like to express my appreciation for taking the time to conduct my interview. It was a pleasure to meet with several of the trustees and gain insight into your reasons for supporting the charitable side of the trust. The explanation given of the goal of the bursary, to provide opportunities to those who may not otherwise, reaffirmed my decision to pursue this qualification to take the first step towards a career in investments. The interview cemented how valuable this opportunity is, prompting me to examine my dedication to meeting the expectations of both the trustees and my mentor.

This support will not only provide financial assistance but also serve as encouragement as I continue to develop myself through this career journey of investments. I am grateful for this opportunity and intend to make the most of this experience.

Thank you for your generosity and your support.
