An incredibly determined young woman
Machi is an incredibly determined young woman, currently attending her first year of reading Chemistry at University College London.
She devotes her full focus to her studies delivering impressive results and still finds the time to help the community via promoting initiatives to increase female participation in finance and tutoring and supporting students from disadvantaged communities.
Machi has been keen to get involved in finance since the early days of her school career. She has worked hard to take advantage of all opportunities available, and she feels that the IMC qualification will be the right addition to broaden her understanding of financial markets.
On receiving the IMCT bursary, Machi writes:
Expressing my immense gratitude in words will not suffice how thankful I am to the IMC Trust team members for the extreme kindness they have shown to me. Such a bursary in my life can never be forgotten and will be one major stepping stone in supporting my career pathway. I am always encouraged to put myself forward to seize any opportunities that will provide enough leverage to break social barriers that individuals like myself can face. My career choice has been a concern for me, coming from a STEM background stepping into finance. Therefore, I am truly blessed and honoured to be a recipient of this bursary where I can widen and grow my knowledge of financial concepts to equip me for a career in finance.
Thanks to the support from the Trustees, strengthening my knowledge will allow me to continue being a role model and an effective representative for those who will walk in similar footsteps. By providing a mentor from whom I can learn a lot, I am one step closer to achieving the goals and ambitions I have planned out for myself. I am grateful that I can continue my passion for learning and excel in my career.
